His Majesty Awards National Order of Merit to 34 Foresters

On the occasion of the 110th National Day Celebration in Haa, His Majesty the King conferred  National Order of Merit to 34 forestry officials including 8 Gold, 10 Silver and 16 Bronze medals, for their selfless and tireless effort in the conservation and protection of environment and watershed. His Majesty the King, in his royal address also expressed his appreciation to all the 1789 foresters serving in the country and also, remembered those foresters who expired in the line of duty.

His Majesty the King also conferred the Druk Thuksey Medal to Lyonpo Chenkyab Dorji, a pioneer forester and  the first Bhutanese Director of the then, Department of Forests.

The National day celebration, 2017 was held in the sacred grounds of Lhakhang Karpo, Haa and graced by His Majesty the King, His Majesty the Fourth King, Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen with His Royal Highness the Gyalsey, Her Majesties the Queen Mothers and other members of the Royal Family.
