A five-training workshop ( 12-16th November 2018) on FMU Inventory, Local Forest Management Planning (LFMP) and Volume equation development is currently underway in Phuentsholing. The training workshop is organized by Forest Resources Management Division and attended by the 54 participants from the FMU and LFMP focal officers from all the field offices.
The opening session was graced by the Chief Forestry Officer, Gedu Forest Division, who welcomed all the participants to Phuentsholing. The CFO in his opening address emphasized on the importance of forest inventory and LFMP in sustainable forest management. He urged the participants to make best use of the training workshop.
The training will impart knowledge on use of SW map and Collect Mobile application introducing to the concept of navigation and systematic data collection using smart phone or tabs. These is an update to the erstwhile method of data collection in the paper form and hence has started to be used in FMU. Subsequently, the participants will be trained in conducting LFMP using GIS tools for inventory and mapping. Further the participants shall be introduced to the volume equation development.
The training workshop is funded by GEF_LDCF (NAPA III)-Enhancing sustainability and Climate Resilience of Forest and Agriculture Landscape and Community Livelihood in Bhutan, REDD+ Himalaya initiative and Rural Development and Climate Change Response Programme.
