Paro 11-13 May 2019: The Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environmental Research (UWICER) and the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) has been implementing the project “Sloping lands in transition: Participatory research on landscape management for forest ecosystem service provision and adaptation-SLANT” with the support of Government of Austria since 2016.
As part of the final phase of the project, a three day write-shop is being conducted by UWICER and CIFOR at Paro to synthesize the results of the project and prepare materials for dissemination to policy makers, forestry professionals and the communities of the research sites. The writeshop will also review the overall project experiences and chalk out the activities for the second phase of the project.
The three-day write-shop is being facilitated by Dr. Himlal Baral, Senior Scientist at CIFOR, and Dr. Robin Sears. The team of researchers will also visit some of the field sites in Thimphu, Punakha and Trongsa after the writeshop to discuss research findings with the Local Forest Officers and other key stakeholders.
