A day long FMU inventory training was conducted on 5th March, 2020 at Bumthang. The training was facilitated by Forest Resources Management Division (FRMD) and attended by 24 officials from various Range Offices under Bumthang Forest Division. The training was conducted in preparation for revision of 10 – year management plan of Dawathang FMU.
The participants were trained on FMU Inventory data collection protocol, data parameters, and use of different equipment such as Global Positioning System (GPS), Laser Rangefinder and Crown densiometer etc. Use of Open Foris Collect Mobile and Collect was also briefly introduced to the participants.
The training inputs were provided in two parts – theoretical and practical. While theoretical inputs were provided prior to lunch break, while the practical session was conducted after the lunch. As part of practical session, the participants were taken to the field and practically demonstrated use of different equipment. They were provided opportunity to use different equipment and also taught field data collection protocols. The training was financially supported through Reducing Emission from Deforestation and forest Degradation (REDD+).
