RUN WILD for Tigers

The Department of Forests and Park Services (DoFPS), Ministry of Agriculture and Forests in collaboration with the United Nation Environmental Program, adidas Runtastic, Internets of Elephants, and Bhutan Foundation will launch the RUN WILD for Tigers campaign from 25th September till 4th October 2020. It is an exciting digital running challenge that lets users run with a wild tiger in Bhutan being researched by the Bhutan Tiger Center. Using the freely downloadable adidas Running app, users will be able to track their runs and test their endurance against Tendrel Zam, a wild Royal Bengal Tiger in Bhutan.

“We are very happy that tiger from Bhutan is part of this RUN WILD campaign. We will be reaching out to millions to raise awareness on tigers and tell our conservation success stories to the outside world. This was planned as of the commutative events for the 40th birth Anniversary of our king and would have loved to launch with a big celebration, but due to the COVID pandemic we are not able to do it” said Lobzang Dorji, Director of DoFPS.

According to Tshering Tempa (PhD), head of Bhutan Tiger Center, Tendrel Zam will post her daily running statistics in the Challenges feature of the adidas Running app as part of the campaign. We encouraged users to compete themselves to outrun Tendrel Zam’s daily movement distance. Apart from updates on her athletic performance, activities and challenges in finding food and staying safe, Tendrel Zam will also encourage users to support tiger conservation.

Running the app from adidas can be downloaded for free from today and runners can compete with wild tigers for 10 days from 25th September till 4th October. With more than 150 million users, this is a great way to create awareness on tigers and save this beautiful endangered life from becoming extinct.
