Announcement for Registration for “Fishing Guide” Training

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forests has legalized High-end recreational fishing for Golden mahseer for exclusive catch and immediate release vide amended Forests and Nature Conservation Rules and Regulations 2022. However, for the foreigners to fish in the rivers of Bhutan, a certified fishing guide is required.

Therefore, to put in place a pool of fishing guides, the Department of Forests and Park Services (DoFPS) in collaboration with Tourism Council (TCB) of Bhutan is planning to organize a first ever professional “Fishing Guide” training in Bhutan from 8th to 16th November 2022 at Panbang, Zhemgang. We are providing 15 slots for the first batch, however, 5 are reserved for unemployed youths from the training site locality. The ten slots are being offered to the licensed tour guides/rafting companies/anglers. Therefore, interested people are invited to register for the training.

The Department will meet the expenses for food and lodging during the training and the participants should bear their own travel expenses. Besides, at least five participants should be able to contribute a set of Oar Rafts for the training.

Participants with prior rafting and/or fishing experience will be given priority. Registration shall be done online through https://www.dofps.gov.bt and will open on 7th October 2022 at 11:00 AM.
