Skill development on Greening and Landscaping for Desuups

The Department of Forests and Park Services, Ministry of Agriculture and Forests has started a program to provide skills on Greening and Landscaping to 20 Desuups on 13th May 2022. The skill development on greening and landscaping will focus on fundamental techniques required for root balling and plantation including an understanding of landscape improvement for aesthetic values.

The program started with a briefing by Dasho Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, and technical advice by the Director, Department of Forests and Park Services. The program is coordinated by the Social Forestry and Extension Division, Department of Forests and Park Services in collaboration with Thimphu Thromde, Desuung Service, and Royal Project Office.

Hence, the 20 Desuups will undergo direct hands-on training for more than 3 months and it is expected the trained Desuups will be able to carry out greening and landscaping on their own in the future. However, the Department of Forests and Park Services ensures the technical support for the Desuups if they carry a similar program in the future.

The 20 Desuups will get direct practical experiences in greening and landscaping by involvement and doing by themselves at Bebana town. The Desuups will be learning by doing and at the same time greening the Bebena town. The Department of Forests and Park Services plea the Bebena communities to take care of the trees that will be planted in their town for better aesthetic values.
