From what once used to be a dull and idle place with nothing much than a stand of Schima wallichii forests, Norbuzingkha under Tsendagang gewog, Dagana Dzongkhag where Dagana Divisional Forest Office stands today, has been transformed to a place which oozes out an aura of beauty and hospitality, much of an alluring to the people. For an office which engages in service delivery to the people, for which many general public visits, where can be more beguiling and captivating place?

And unlike any other projects, this was their own making, initiated and done with their own efforts and labour contribution, without involvement of any funds and contract works. The whole beautification works started way back in 2021, the time when the new office structure construction began. Β Since then, there was no looking back. Every Friday of a week, the whole staff set out with Spade, Pickaxe, Crowbar and other required tools dedicating the day for beautification work.

Their hard work paid off and today the Gyalsey Plantation cum Botanical Garden, outdoor Orchid Garden, Rose Garden, Rock Garden, Children’s Park and other educational models adorn the office campus. For any visitor, there is no fatigue of having to wait for the service as they relish, savour and delights in the glamour of the office surroundings. Β

The visitor shade, wooden benches set around a big flat stone table, giant portraits of His Majesty and Royal Families, flower garden edging the road leading to office. All these would give a visitor a sense of visiting a recreational park than a government institution. Β

The beautification works also includes a sculpture of Thuenpa Puenzhi, which symbolically represents harmony and unity of a family or society. In a Buddhist country which also espouses Gross National Happiness as fundamentals of happiness, the sculpture constantly reminds the visitor of same. Β

The work doesn’t stop there. The office has plans up their sleeves to further develop the already incredible and enchanting office campus. Excited by how it turned out in the Divisional Office, the division has replicated the same landscaping and beautification works at Lhamoizingkha Range Office. Similarly, many within the Department and outside can take a cue from Dagana Divisional Forest Office to develop their surrounding into same appealing and bewitching area.
